Department of Health Medicaid Waiver program

The Department of Health Medicaid Waiver program for survivors of traumatic brain injury T.B.I). "The Medicaid Waiver" is a program which serves approximately 2500 disabled individuals who have sustained a traumatic brain injury. The mission of this program is to help these individuals who require nursing home level care maintain themselves in the community and avoid more costly nursing home placement.

Currently, the Waiver is in a crisis, not due to funding , but to paperwork and procedures.
